Case Study:

Modernising a Health Insurer’s Data Environment

115

Client Organisation

The client is a major not-for-profit health insurer with a strong focus on member outcomes and digital innovation. With a large customer base and a growing emphasis on digital health, the organisation needed to strengthen its data environment to remain competitive. Its strategic goals included improving data accessibility, enhancing system integration, and establishing a scalable foundation for future digital transformation. Legacy integration processes and fragmented systems were no longer sufficient to support these objectives.

Project Overview

The insurer faced challenges with disconnected systems, which restricted visibility and slowed access to accurate insights. Reporting processes were inconsistent and often dependent on manual workarounds, creating inefficiencies and increasing the risk of errors. These gaps limited collaboration between teams, delayed decision-making, and restricted the organisation’s ability to execute its broader digital health initiatives. To address this, the client required an enterprise-grade integration solution that could unify data flows and enable timely, reliable access to information across departments. Sedha Consulting was engaged to advise on sourcing and implement the new data integration platform over a six-month period.

Sedha's Role

Sedha Consulting led the end-to-end program, beginning with requirements gathering and discovery workshops to ensure alignment with the insurer’s digital strategy. The team designed the target architecture, evaluated potential vendors, and managed the sourcing process to secure the most suitable platform. Delivery oversight was maintained throughout implementation, embedding governance practices and ensuring real-time data integration capabilities were achieved. Sedha facilitated engagement with stakeholders at multiple levels, ensuring that both technical and strategic perspectives were addressed. The approach combined technical rigour with a strategic lens, resulting in a modern integration environment tailored to the client’s objectives.

Results

The client now operates on a modernised data ecosystem with real-time, point-to-point connectivity. Decision-making is faster and more accurate due to consistent, timely insights. The improved integration capabilities have reduced reliance on manual processes and increased organisational agility. Digital service delivery has become more reliable and effective, directly supporting member outcomes. Importantly, the solution avoided vendor lock-in, enabling flexibility for future technology choices. The new environment provides a scalable foundation for continued transformation, positioning the insurer to accelerate its digital health strategy and sustain long-term innovation.
