Client Organisation

The client is a large national organisation responsible for managing critical infrastructure across multiple locations. With thousands of employees and significant annual revenue, it plays a vital role in the country’s economy. The organisation aimed to modernise its IT capabilities, improve cost efficiency, and strengthen governance. Leadership initiated a comprehensive IT transformation program to embed stronger processes and deliver long-term value through improved asset management, vendor oversight, and financial optimisation.

Project Overview

The client engaged Sedha Consulting to deliver a 12-month IT transformation program. The key objectives were to establish a software asset management function, reduce technology spend, and create a structured approach to vendor management. Challenges included fragmented processes, rising IT costs, and limited visibility over supplier performance. The project was designed to build transparency, drive accountability, and ensure the IT division could operate with greater efficiency and discipline.

Sedha's Role

Sedha Consulting provided program management and advisory services across three streams:

  • Software Asset Management: Led workshops with IT staff to identify issues and design new processes. Implemented a best-practice framework supported by a leading SAM tool and ensured the newly established team received targeted training.

  • IT Cost Optimisation: Identified 12 opportunities to reduce costs, developed multi-year action plans, and implemented several quick wins during the engagement to demonstrate early value.

  • Vendor Management: Designed a vendor framework categorising suppliers into strategic, legacy, tactical, and emerging. Developed tailored management practices for each group and delivered training sessions to embed skills within the IT division.

The program was delivered in 12 months, within budget, and with strong engagement from senior leaders and staff.

Results

The engagement delivered measurable improvements in IT governance and operational performance. The client established a fully functioning software asset management capability, supported by skilled staff and effective processes. Cost optimisation opportunities were embedded into long-term plans, with immediate savings achieved through early actions. The vendor management framework created structure, transparency, and consistency, ensuring the client could manage strategic suppliers more effectively while maximising value from others. The program delivered significant savings, enhanced efficiency, and positioned the organisation for sustained IT performance improvements.
